We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with our community! Oris Dance has officially completed its validation process to become an affiliated Children’s University Learning Destination. This exciting partnership allows us to celebrate and reward the learning that takes place in our dance sessions, connecting our students to a brilliant national charity dedicated to encouraging a lifelong love of learning.
What is Children’s University?
Children’s University is a charity that partners with schools and community organisations like ours to encourage and celebrate learning that happens outside of the regular school day. Research shows that children spend only 9% of their waking life in a classroom, and Children’s University aims to make the other 91% count.
By providing access to fun and engaging extra-curricular activities, the program helps children from all backgrounds build confidence, develop essential skills, and discover new passions. We are proud to align with their mission to create a level playing field of opportunity for every child.
How Does It Work at Oris Dance?
As a validated Learning Destination, Oris Dance can now award official credits for participation in our eligible classes and workshops. Students who are part of the Children’s University program can bring their special “Passport to Learning” to their sessions with us.
The Passport to Learning is a child’s personal logbook for recording their learning journey. At the end of an eligible class, our trained staff will add a special ‘stamp’ to their passport, certifying the hours they’ve completed. It’s a fantastic way for children to see their progress and feel a sense of achievement for their commitment.
It is important to note that hours can be awarded for training and skill-building sessions, but not for participation in competitions, awards day sessions, or events. Each child can collect a maximum of 100 hours from our activities throughout their time with Children’s University.
Our Commitment to Safe and Inclusive Learning
This partnership deepens our commitment to providing a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for every child. As a validated Learning Destination, we have demonstrated our dedication to quality and safeguarding. We believe that dance is a powerful tool for building self-esteem, resilience, and creativity, and we are excited to have this formally recognised.
You will now see the Children’s University Quality Mark logo – our badge of honour – on our website and marketing materials.
Get Involved!
We are so excited to begin this new chapter with our families. This collaboration will help empower our dancers to make positive choices, grow in confidence, and celebrate their hard work.
