Some of our best childhood memories involve dance. From creating routines in the garden with friends, to proudly hanging certificates on the wall; from being mesmerized by the Flamenco dancers on holiday, to the excitement of getting new ballet or tap shoes...
And of course there was dance class each Saturday and all that came with it - fun, friends, performances, new skills, achievements.
Some years on, those children are now the teachers. Dance routines with friends in the garden are less common (although not completely unheard of!) and we hope to provide the kind of fond memories for our dancers that have always stayed with us.
Dance for all
Our philisophy is making dance accessible to all. If you’re looking for dance lessons in Eccleston/St Helens, you don't have to be the next Billy Elliot or Darcy Bussell to join us - a love of dance, music and a will to learn is all you need. In return, we promise you fun, inclusive and safe dance classes each week and additional events throughout the year.
"Oris" is a Latin word meaning expression. If you want to dance for fun, fitness, and with friends, come and express yourself with Oris Dance.
The teachers at Oris Dance
Another amazing day with professional west end dancer, Andrew, took place on Saturday 5th October. Andrew led two brilliant musical theatre workshops for some of our Ruskin dancers, filling the room with energy, fun and laughter. We learnt a lot and look forward to welcoming Andrew back soon.
Are you looking for a St Helens dance class? Now is the perfect time to sign up with Oris Dance as we're starting brand new work across all classes in September. Contact us to ask about availability and the most suitable class for you.
Have you signed up for one of our summer holiday Days of Dance? If 6 weeks seems just too long off dancing, we've some great activities planned at our Ruskin Drive Leisure Village studio - get in touch to find out more.
What a fantastic afternoon we had at the Theatre Royal for our annual performance on 14th July. Our movie themed show was a great success - every single one of our dancers did us proud. We were sooo impressed with you all! A massive well done to everyone who took part and thanks to everyone who came to watch.
Our Easter workshop with Andrew Chadwick was a full day of learning, lifting and most importantly, laughing. Our dancers had a wonderful time learning some original west-end musical theatre choreography and mastering partner lifts and balances. Here are some photos of the day:
Thank you to guest teachers, Victoria and Sheila, who ran two great fun workshops. We learnt a lot from you both!
A distinction grade is rare, but our dancer and class assistant, Laura, smashed her exams this year by receiving, not one, but three!!
Huge congratulations on this outstanding achievement, with love from all your fellow dancers and teachers at Oris Dance. x
We were thrilled to receive some outstanding gradings and remarks from our recent exam session, including a high number of honours and distinctions. What an achievement!!
A huge well done to all of our dancers who have (yet again!) done us proud!
Following our recent exam session with the ADA, we are thrilled to have once again achieved a 100% pass rate. Congratulations and well done to all of our dancers - we are so proud of you all!
We had a great afternoon out at the Lowry watching Dr Doolittle and celebrating the end of another fantastic year at Oris Dance. Thanks to everyone that came along, including parents who came to help.
Well done to 60 of our dancers who took part in this year's Children in Need Tapathon on Sunday 18th November. The atmosphere was electric with all those shoes tapping together!
No Guinness World Record this time (for the largest tap dance across multiple venues), but over £37k raised for Children in Need and a great day had by all! Thank you and well done to everyone involved.
We were so excited to have Kimberly Wyatt join us on the afternoon of 21st July. Kimberly ran two workshops for two different age groups working on technique, confidence and a fantastic commercial routine with us. There was also time for lots of photos and autograph signing! A fantastic day - thank you Kim! x
We had a lovely end to the school year with our yongest dancers at our Teddy Bear's Picnic on 21st July. Teddies, cake and of course lots of dancing! Thanks to everyone who came.
Thanks to St Julie's who invited us to perform at their summer gala on 15th July. Well done dancers - you did us proud!
